NOVEMBER 2011: Message from the Executive Director
Dear Friend of Unlimited Potential,
As the holiday season approaches, Unlimited Potential has much to be thankful for. We hosted our second annual Educating Families for Tomorrow Fundraising Luncheon on November 17 with nearly 150 guests in attendance. Long-time supporters and new faces received a glimpse of Unlimited Potential's mission as they heard testimony from center participants.
Claudia conveyed her journey with Unlimited Potential began in 1998. She came to learn English and received much more. She shared how founder Jeanne Devine was a source of inspiration. She stated, "She made me believe I could do it and helped me to not be afraid."

Program Update: Children Thrilled by Mothers on Stage
October proved to be frightful and fun with sixty children attending Unlimited Potential's Intersession Program. Youth who were on school break accompanied their mothers to the center where they participated in a week of exciting activities that included board games, outdoor activities, conversations with families, poetry, and theater. Dulce Juarez was the opening act as she presented a dance sketch and read a story about the America's encounter with Columbus. Students enthusiastically raised their hands to share their observations. Amazingly, she captured the attention of children of all ages.

My Learning Experience with Herbs and Vegetables

by Irene, adult literacy participant
We are learning new and interesting things in our literacy class. We read an article in English that talked about food, health and healing. Our teacher wanted us to explore new ways of eating healthy foods to heal our bodies and buying fresh fruits and vegetables. She invited us to a farmers market, a place I had never seen. She took us to the market on a Saturday, and I was able to taste the food made of natural or organic ingredients. The market reminded me of Mexico and how we would go to the market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.
