Our History
Unlimited Potential (UP) was founded in 1986 as a grassroots non-profit agency serving primarily parents in the Roosevelt School District attendance area. Our programs have grown out of community needs to address adult functional illiteracy, unemployment and resulting family problems. Head Start parents who were enrolled in the first educational groups, set the strong foundation that has allowed UP to blossom. The program has grown, evolved and thrived over the past twenty years, and we now have a permanent physical space and a three-year waiting list.. Many women who began as participants, continue as volunteers and employees. With the aid of a little education and access to resources, hundreds of women have demonstrated that they indeed have Unlimited Potential!
Our Mission
Unlimited Potential’s mission is to empower individuals, foster the healthy development of young children, strengthen families and build healthy communities. We envision a society where children grow up in healthy, positive environments and where people are committed to global peace, justice, and respect for all forms of life. We believe that to realize this future, people must be actively engaged in community decision-making processes that affect their lives.
Unlimited Potential has worked with women and their preschool children for over 20 years. Our life-skills training empowers individuals, strengthens families, and increases community involvement.
Children are the future. They need roots to grow and wings to fly. Only with skills and awareness can parents nurture a sapling into a fruit-bearing tree. Unlimited Potential provides a springboard for both mother and child.
